Asian Film Festival of Deauville: Claire Denis The jury's verdict :
For the sixteenth edition of the Asian Film Festival in Deauville, the
jury and its president Claire Denis announced their winners .
Two months before the Cannes Film Festival and two months after that of the Alpe d' Huez, the Asian Film Festival of Deauville ended yesterday , Sunday, March 9 . For this 16th edition , the feature Kazakh Nagima Zhanna Issabayeva Lotus won the best film. The work of one twenty Nagima follows the journey of a young orphan woman, adult now . Victim of the vagaries of life , she finds herself on the verge of adopting the daughter of a friend to keep him at the orphanage. Not very happy , but after all Kazakh films rarely are.Lotus Jury was also presented Sunday. A nice surprise since both films are tied arrived . Ugly director Anurag Kashyap Indian and Han - Gon Ju South Korean Lee Jin -Su are the lucky winners . The Korean film however takes the ascendancy over its competitor as it also won the Lotus Air France ( Critics Award ) and the Audience Award of the city of Deauville. Three films thus stand out on the eight entered this year's competition . Ten films were in turn presented out of competition.
