Cortana for Windows Phone 8.1, a mixture of Siri and Google Now :
Apple popularized the concept of virtual assistant in mobile devices . Siri is a global phenomenon , and although the firm 's competitors have not taken the same path, they also launched services somewhat similar that would help users in their daily tasks.
Microsoft has apparently been working on a rival to Siri, the assistant Cortana that would debut on Windows Phone 8.1.
New details have emerged about Cortana , and it seems that the wizard will be a mixture of Siri and Google Now.
It has been said that Cortana replace the integrated search engine Bing in the WP devices , and it will work as a mixture of Siri and Google Now. People who " know how to work with Microsoft Windows Phone " ,
told The Verge that Cortana will be in a lively colors with Windows Phone circular icon. It would be " no different from Apple's Siri ."
According to the requirements , the wizard will react with "emotion" , and it might bounce or when he thinks when he speaks.
Apparently , users can ask questions , just like Siri, and it might even greet them by name.
Cortana will be similar to Google Now in the sense that there be data from various services , including Bing and Foursquare, to give it the power of contextual Now. Microsoft also will give users more control over information shared with Cortana , it will be based on a feature called Notebook .
Cortana will not store things in the notebook without asking prior users , and any information that is stored can be edited or deleted by the user.
The information stored in the notebook will be used to give suggestions , alerts , reminders.
