THE ESA leaves to the hunting to the livable exoplanets with the mission PLATO



Thrown(Launched) in 2024, the European PLATO probe should observe a million stars and could detect several thousand exoplanets among which some of ground type(chap) and susceptible to shelter the life. 
The European space agency ( ESA) chose on Wednesday, February 19th to finance the mission PLATO (PLAnetary Transits and Oscillations of stars) who should be thrown(launched) by Kourou in 2024. 
During his main mission of six years, PLATO will scrutinize near a million stars and she should detect several thousand exoplanets, of from which some people could be of ground type(chap) and would may shelter the life. " 
PLATO, with his(her) exceptional capacity to chase away the systems similar to our couple Sun-Earth, can take advantage of advances(overhangs) realized thanks to several other European missions, in particular COBELCH and Cheops " explained Alvaro Giménez, Director(Manager) Science and robotics Exploration in the ESA, " his discoveries will help us to compare the architecture of our own Solar system to that of the other planetary systems. " 
Avec 34 instruments optiques de 120 mm de diamètre associés à autant de caméras CCD, PLATO sera à l’affût d’infimes variations de  luminosité qui se produisent lorsqu’une exoplanète passe devant son étoile ; un million d’astres d’une magnitude comprise entre 4 et 16 seront observées. 
D’une durée de six années, la mission principale de PLATO devrait ainsi permettre la surveillance de près de 50 % de la sphère céleste. 
La masse, le rayon et l’âge de 85 000 étoiles seront en outre déterminés avec une très grande précision en mesurant leurs oscillations par des techniques d’astérosismologie.
