Rakuten, the Japanese giant of the e-commerce, announced, on Friday, February 14th, a 900 million dollar investment (661 million euros) to acquire the Viber Media company, the designer of applications of telephony and on-line messaging.
The Japanese group, which simultaneously stated a doubling of its net profit in 2013 in 43 billion yens (320 million euros), wants to widen still its pallet of activities which already go of the shopping mall to the finances via(including) electronic books or reservations of journeys.
280 MILLION CLAIMED CUSTOMERS
Viber Media is a company installed(settled) in Cyprus which developed an application of the same name thanks to which it is possible to phone, to write and to share on-line images by the transmission under Internet protocol ( IP).
It is about a competitor of Skype. The calls(appeals) and other exchanges between subscribers Viber are also free.
